Signs and Symptoms

Ovarian cancer has long been called “The Silent Killer”, because it usually isn’t discovered until its advanced stages.  70-75% of the time the cancer has spread to other parts of the abdomen before it is detected.  However,  there is something that can be done, now, to improve these dismal statistics.

The truth is that some substantial portion of the time, early-stage ovarian cancer does produce symptoms – and the new battle cry of ovarian cancer activists is “It Whispers – So Listen!”. (1)

Signs and Symptoms Include:

  • Abdominal bloating, pressure or discomfort
  • Frequent urination or gas
  • Persistent nausea, indigestion, constipation or diarrhea
  • Unexplained weight gain or loss
  • Fatigue or backaches
  • Abnormal bleeding or pain with intercourse

NOTE: PAP smears do not detect ovarian cancer.
